Trucks: Truck permit service tips and advice

One aspect of commercial over the road long haul truck driving that is often overlooked is the amount of paperwork involved, you not only have to keep a log book but you have to have all the proper truck permits and authorizations for every state and country you drive in.

You will have to complete paperwork for fuel permits, overweight permits, hazmat permits, licensing for commercial trucking, along with insurance. As a trucker that gets paid for driving and not doing paperwork I have come up with some simple tips that any commercial trucker can use to save time and reduce the amount of time spent doing paperwork for things like truck permits so you can driving instead of pushing paperwork.

The simplest time saving tip is to remember the old grade school advice: KISS - keep it simple stupid. You should start with a storage box and divide all the paperwork up into categories for things like fuel, insurance, state papers, truck permits, bingo stamps, etc. Other things to keep in the storage box are pens, erasers, pencils, staples, stapler, along with some petty cash for emergency needs.

With the advent of modern technology you can save lots of time by using the internet to get most of your paperwork done for things like truck permits and fuel permits, many commercial truck stops have internet access and even many cell phones can surf the net now so you should try to complete as much paperwork online and possible.

So by now you should have all your paperwork organized and be doing as much of it as possible online. The next step is to start planning ahead and think about your up coming paperwork and try to get a jump on it by utilizing any downtime to complete the paperwork ahead of time.

The final tip I have is more of a suggestion than an actual tip but if you are tired of the increasing costs and regulations involved in commercial trucking then I would like to ask that you get involved in your local politics and start to lobby against more regulations and increasing fees, you are not going to change the world yourself but if enough of us start to lobby against it we may just start to turn the tide.

Commercial Truckers can save themselves lots of time by completing paperwork online for truck permits. To learn more about online permiting services for truckers visit truckpermitservice.com
