What A Car Salesman Is Thinking Part 2

As I was saying, If only selling a car was as easy as selling your old bicycle to your cousin. But it's not. Far from it. We salespeople (I better make this clear: men or women sell cars) for now on when I say salesman, I mean both ok?ok. We salespeople know that you , the shopper, are either shopping several dealerships, or you are talking to your dads friend out of town ,(and they both know which car you should buy and how much you should spend), or you have already test driven three pickups elsewhere,or this is your first stop and chances are almost nill that youll buy one at the first place you shop. Well guess what?stranger things have happened. Many is the time I hear these words: "I was not even gonna buy a car today, now here I am three hours later , driving home a new pickup!". Music to my ears for sure. How does it happen?; Luck. We had a car he was interested in, I didn't rub him the wrong way, he got swept up in the process ,and I got a happy customer out of the deal. All the time I was thinking, boy just don't irritate the guy and maybe he'll actually take it. Another instance is where you see a guy you recognize come back on the lot and you cannot remember his name for the life of you. You feverishly plow through your notes to find his name while you announce to the other sales guys he's your customer hoping they don't ask his name or that one of then knows the guy. You go out there and say "hey! you made it back! So what are you thinking?" Hoping somehow he reintroduces himself or you remember his name. Best thing to do is have him sign or fill out something so you can see his name.
